Mariya's practice focuses on corporate and commercial law. Mariya regularly advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, commercial and real estate transactions, corporate reorganizations and regulatory compliance across a broad range of industries.
Prior to joining Noctua Legal, Mariya practiced law in one of Canada's largest national law firms, where she gained extensive experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements and advising on day-to-day corporate and commercial matters. She advised clients across various sectors, including retail and consumer markets, food, beverage and agribusiness, technology and telecommunications, construction, real estate, manufacturing, and healthcare. She also advised institutional clients such as banks, private investment funds and public issuers.
Mariya cofounded Garage Legal, a legal clinic aimed at helping the growth of small enterprises and non-profit organizations throughout Quebec. During her legal studies, she also cofounded the Revue juridique étudiante de l’Université de Montréal, a non-profit entity dedicated to fostering research and legal writing among the student body. Her proximity to the business community and her understanding of business law enables her to provide clients with a proactive approach to legal challenges.
